Welcome to my new Buckeye Street Ventures blog!
This blog will attempt to chronicle the real estate projects that I take on and provide a journal for me to organize my intentions for each project, document what I learn about each property, and capture the progress & mistakes that I make along the way. I hope that it can serve as a road map for others to learn from as well as a place for me to come to refocus my energy when I deviate from the plan.
A little bit about me now as I start this new set of ventures: I am a born and raised Cincinnatian that has grown up on the west-side in Western Hills; am a St. Antoninus Jaguar, a St. Xavier Bomber, and an Ohio State Buckeye; & have always loved this city. I have a background as a financial analyst for a commercial real estate company but also draw from many other sources for insight and inspiration including many hours of DIY Network/HGTV, other development blogs such as 5kcincinnati & 1700vine, & many other random websites and sources. In addition to these various digital means, I've tried to get an on-the-ground feel for the area by biking the surrounding urban basin multiple times during the warmer months and scouting new real estate listing in person. I've also tried to keep my finger on the pulse of the neighborhood for the last two years as I've lived at home to save the money in order to start my ventures.
About four months ago when Greg's Antiques closed, I bought an antique map of Cincinnati which was "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1855" and noticed that, in addition to lacking any bridges across the river and still having the canal splitting OTR, the map had many streets with different names. When I finally made my move for a first real estate venture, it just happened to be located on Buckeye Street (modern-day E. Clifton Ave.) and I took that as a good omen for where to begin my journey.
