This is really old news now, but a week or so ago I found an old coin in my basement amongst many other pieces of junk. I'm sifting through what was left behind by many past people to see what I can still use. Most of it is building supplies that I might be able to save some money on my renovations with if I know what I have.
So in the process of going through it all, I found this little beauty:
It's a British penny from 1866 and in pretty worn condition, but it's something neat to find down there. I talked to a friend who is really into collecting coins and did some Google researching and found that if it were in great condition it might be worth a few hundred bucks, but some in a little worse condition were selling on eBay for 3 pounds, which is somewhere around $10 bucks. I'm valuing it at $20 in my head and filing it away until I'm 60. Maybe my grand-kids will be millionaires or something.
