Now I'm not going to act like I'm anywhere near close to accomplishing a clean basement, but I made a solid dent in about half of the junk that came with my building (the other half is conveniently off camera). That's not even 1/6th of my whole basement. I have entire sections with piles of dirt and others with piles of stone an others with piles of lime and sand and it's messy. eventually I want to us the stones to wall up the coal chutes and then back fill them with the dirt (so, you know, I don't have to haul it all out of the basement and it helps hold up the sidewalk above these coal chutes). Yet another project for the list.
On the bright side, I now have some decent space to refill with my tools and I made $17 bucks at the scrap yard from all the metal that was down in the junk. But really the best part about digging through things in my basement is you never know what you'll find like the 1866 British Penny that I already found and wrote about. This time didn't disappoint either.
The main finds were a set of old style oil cans ("Eagle" and "Made in USA")
And a pendant that was mortared into the foundation wall. My mom said she could feel air coming out of the wall (party wall the goes to my vacant neighbor's basement), so uh oh going to need to tuckpoint that one... No idea on what the pendant is, but when I spit on it before this picture it appears to have some color to it too.
Happy treasure hunting!
