Luckily we haven't had an icy winter so far and the weather has cooperated.
My roofer has been really good working with me so far to remedy the initial problems, and came back to put the "membrane" coating that I had expected. It looks pretty good, and since it's white I've been able to pinpoint the problem spots a little better as the black grains from the shingles collect in the low spots. Water is still getting thorough one of the low spots, but otherwise I think we're close on the front gutter box. They're supposed to be coming back to see what can be done to seal it completely while they're here sealing the ends of the leaking back gutters.
One new twist is that now that the gutter box is mostly sealed, we've found that there's also a leak somewhere in the downspout elbow. That was outside of the work I'd been quoted on so I'm hoping there's a simple fix. We'll see.
