Gutterbox repairs

After last weeks tour with Chris, it came to my attention that the gutterbox that is above the front cornice was leaking and in need of repair. When we got on the roof we realized that it was simply some old rubber membrane that had cracked and not been repaired when the roof shingles were redone. It was one item that needed my immediate attention because it could make things much worse for me down the road the longer that I waited on this repair.

So for the last 3 days I've been on the roof getting it done. First  I shop-vacuuming out the sand/dirt that had filled in most of the deeper cracks (which was before my first two pictures were taken) and with it gone the problem looked much worse than it first seemed. The cracks extended the entire length of the gutter box and with many small points of penetration. The sand/dirt that had filled the cracks actually prevented more water from seeping through the cracks except in the middle near where the water pooled at the downspout so it had time to work its way down.

A 3.3 gallon bucket of wet patch went a long way but not quite all the way so I needed another .90 gallon bucket. But after troweling it on nice and smooth, this should last me a long time before I'll need to go up and worry about it again.
