205 #2 Before Pictures

One of my tenants moved across the hall back in December. He told me it was to downsize since his wife had passed away in the summer and this apartment reminded him of her (she didn't die in the apartment, but in the hospital for the record). But once he was all moved out, I quickly realized that another reason that he happily moved into the only semi-finished apartment across the hall was that one he was in was in even worse shape. Most of it was due to shoddy building materials from the start that wasn't holding up.

So here are the pictures from before I started:

The kitchen flooring's stick down tiles were replaced with black ones? Who is that bad at repairing things? Come on guys... Vintage appliances round out this gorgeous kitchen.

The top cabinets are falling off the wall in case you can't tell from the picture

Oh, and the wall borders...

 Cracked sink
Note the swirls on the walls and ceiling in here and that they used the stick down tile up the side of the tub. Classy
Bathroom door that swings the wrong way. Light switch is behind the door when you walk in, but at least they bolted a door stop to the floor.

Wall borders and fan with shoe strings
Carpet dirty and worn beyond keeping

Did I mention wall borders, in every room....

 Even worse carpet

So I'll refinish the walls (minus the borders) and repaint. Tear out the carpet and put down new flooring throughout (probably that snap together laminate that looks like hard wood). Redo the kitchen cabinets and counter-tops with some salvaged ones from my Uncle's old kitchen, which are in my dad's office basement right now. Bring up some newer appliances in my apartment and probably Craigslist these ones. Smooth down the swirls in the bathroom, install a new sink, maybe toilet, re-glaze the tub, and tile shower walls and flooring.

This one will be a little more of a challenge than that last with the kitchen and bathroom a part of the remodel, but overall much of the same things that I've already learned.
